CEISEE HISTORY
The CEISEE conference has been successful and has garnered widespread attention and participation from education scholars, industry experts, and relevant government officials in China and Europe. To date, more than 1,500 scholars from 25 countries, including China, Ireland, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Croatia, Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Russia, the United States, Japan, South Korea, Tanzania, Thailand, Malaysia, Romania, Pakistan, Bulgaria, and Macedonia, have participated in the conference. The conference is held alternately in China and Europe every year, with locations including Harbin, Dublin, Guangzhou, Bordeaux, Xi’an, Northampton, Shanghai, Pavia, Chengdu, Zwickau, Shenyang, Athens, Shenzhen, Lisbon, Beijing, Zagreb, and Wuhan. And in 2024, the CEISEE symposium would be held in Belgrade, Serbia. It’s influence has been growing internationally over the years.

THE 1ST CEIS-SIOE SYMPOSIUM, in HARBIN, CHINA
The 1st China-Europe International Symposium on Software Industry Oriented Education (CEIS-SIOE) was initiated in Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin, China during January 10-13, 2005. CEIS-SIOE, as an extension of EU “Asia-Link” EMERSION project, aimed to enhance the exchange between China and Europe and develop and improve the software industry-oriented education models in both regions. The symposium focused on the model and concept of software industry education, the needs of industrial software talent training, software engineering education curriculum system, teaching quality assurance system, industrialization practice and information education and other topics. Ms. Ma Jie, an officer from Ministry of Education in China, and Ms. Zhao Min, the Vice Chief of the Provincial Education Bureau were invited to attend the symposium and delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. Dr. Brendan O’Shea, the Head of School of Computing at Dublin Institute of Technology, Ireland served as the Chairman of Programme Committee and Prof. Xu Xiaofei, the Dean of School of Software at Harbin Institute of Technology acted as the Chairman of Organization Committee. A total of 3 keynotes and 16 papers were presented in the plenary session, and 5 parallel sessions at the conference, which was attended by representatives from 30 universities or institutions in China, Ireland and the UK.

THE 2ND CEIS-SIOE SYMPOSIUM, in HARBIN, CHINA
The second China-Europe International Symposium on Software Industry Oriented Education was held again in Harbin, China during January 18-20, 2006. The second CEIS-SIOE conference attracted more participants from universities and the IT industry, as well as software experts from Ireland, the UK, Germany, Australia and South Korea. The conference had over 100 attendees, with more than 80 individuals from 39 universities and companies serving as official representatives. Ms. Piedad Rivas, an officer of European Union mission to China, Ms. Zhao Min, the Vice Chief of the Provincial Education Bureau, and Ms. Qiu Xiaoping, the Manager of University Relations, IBM China Co. Ltd. were invited to attend the symposium and gave speeches in the opening ceremony. The event featured 7 captivating keynote speeches, 14 parallel sessions, and 2 panel sessions. After rigorous evaluation by experts in the education and software industry from China and Europe, a total of 40 excellent papers were selected for inclusion in the conference proceedings and presented at the conference.

THE 3RD CEIS-SIOE SYMPOSIUM, in DUBLIN, IRELAND
The third China-Europe International Symposium on Software Industry Oriented Education (CEIS-SIOE 2007) was held in February 2007, by Dublin Institute of Technology, in Dublin, Ireland. The conference aimed to bring together educators and industry professionals with a focus on software education. The conference attracted over 80 participants from countries such as Ireland, China, the United Kingdom, France, the United States, Russia, and Poland, representing the education and IT industry sectors. The event featured 2 engaging keynote speeches, 10 parallel sessions, and a panel discussion on the collaboration between industry and academia in software industry talent education. A total of 29 papers were presented and included in the conference proceedings. The Chinese delegation were treated with the highest level of reception from Ireland. The President of Ireland, Ms. Mary McAlees, specially received the members of the Chinese delegation headed by Professor Xu Xiaofei at the President’s Residence and had a cordial conversation with them. A number of Chinese and Irish officials and celebrities, including Mr. Zhang Xinsen, Chinese Ambassador to Ireland, Mr. Fergal Costello from the Irish Ministry of Higher Education, Mr. Frank O ‘Connor, head of International Education Affairs at the Irish Trade and Technology Bureau, and Mr. Alan Buckley, Science and Technology Counselor of the Embassy of Ireland to China, and other officials attended the symposium.

THE 4TH CEISIE SYMPOSIUM, in GUANGZHOU, CHINA
The fourth China-Europe International Symposium on Software Industry Oriented Education (renamed as CEISIE 2008) was organized by Sun Yat-sen University, in Guangzhou, China during January 10-11, 2008. Nearly 70 experts and scholars from China, Ireland, the UK, France, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Tanzania and other countries attended the symposium. Mr. Wu Aihua, Deputy Director of Department of Science and Technology, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education attended the conference and participated in the following fourth, fifth, sixth and eighth symposiums. The conference featured 4 exciting keynote presentations, 9 parallel sessions, an industrial session and a panel on how to build an ecosystem for IT talent development through collaboration between universities, government and industry. A total of 37 papers were presented and included in the conference proceedings. The successful holding of the symposium further strengthened the exchange and cooperation between China and the EU in developing and improving the education of industrial software talents.

THE 5TH CEISIE SYMPOSIUM, in BORDEAUX, FRANCE
The CEISIE 2009 was organized by Universite de Bordeaux 1, in Bordeaux, France during May 25-27, 2009. The theme was “Educate adaptive talents for IT Applications in Enterprises and Interoperability”. More than 50 experts and scholars from 10 countries including France, China, Ireland, the UK Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Finland attended the symposium. The conference has arranged 2 keynote presentations, 12 chapters and 1 panel on the application of enterprise information technology and the training of technical personnel for interoperability. Two keynotes and 34 papers were presented. The successful holding of CEISIE 2009 not only promoted the exchange and cooperation between China and Europe in industrial software education, but also attracted great attention from the international community. French television also conducted a special interview and report on this conference.

The 6th China-Europe International Symposium on Software Industry Oriented Education (CEISIE 2010) was held in May 24-25, 2010, organized by Northwestern Polytechnical University, in Xi’An, China. The theme of CEISEE 2010 was “Educate Adaptive Talents for Software Service Outsourcing Industry”. The series of CEISIE conferences was gaining increasing influence in the international arena. More than 80 experts and scholars from 6 countries including China, Ireland, UK, France, Germany and Italy attended the seminar. There were 5 keynote speeches, eight parallel sessions and a panel on international cooperation in IT education.

THE 7TH CEISIE SYMPOSIUM, in NORTHAMPTON, UK
The CEISIE 2011 was organized by the University of Northampton, in Northampton, UK during May 21-26, 2011. With the theme of “Green Computing in Higher Education”, more than 50 experts and scholars from China, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Tanzania and other countries attended the conference. The proceedings include 29 papers from China and European countries. According to the decision of the Conference Program Committee, the name of the conference will be changed to “China-Europe International Symposium on Software Engineering Education”, and the title in short of the conference will also be changed from CEISIE to CEISEE.

The 8th China-Europe International Symposium on Software Engineering Education (CEISEE 2012) was organized by Shanghai Jiaotong University, in Shanghai, China during May 28-29, 2012. The theme was “Software Engineering Education at All Levels”. More than 50 experts and scholars from 6 countries including China, Ireland, Britain, France, Germany and Italy attended the conference. There were three keynote presentations, four sessions and a panel on collaborative innovation in software engineering education in the context of economic globalization. A total of 18 papers were presented and published in the Journal of Computer Education as conference proceedings.

THE 9TH CEISEE SYMPOSIUM, in MILIAN, ITALY
The 9th China-Europe International Symposium on Software Engineering Education (CEISEE 2013) was organized by University of Pavia, in Milan, Italy during May 13-14, 2013. The theme was “Software Engineering Education for Global E-Service Economy”. The conference was widely supported by Chinese and European university education scholars, industry experts and related academic organizations. More than 30 experts and scholars from China, Italy, Ireland, the United Kingdom, France, Germany and other countries attended the symposium. The two-day CEISEE 2013 conference included 23 keynote speeches, and paper presentations. The conference proceedings were published by Springer.

The CEISEE 2014 was organized by University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, in Chengdu, China, in April 24-25, 2014. CEISEE 2014 participants come from foreign universities, universities in Chengdu and other regional universities in China, and more than 20 IT companies. Scholars and industry representatives made presentations and discussions on the educational model and practice of software engineering, curriculum reform of software engineering education and international education, with the theme of “Software Engineering Education in Big Data Decade”. THE 15TH CEISEE SYMPOSIUM, in LISBON, PORTUGAL
The CEISEE 2019 is organized by New University of Lisbon (UNINOVA), in Lisbon, Portugalduring May 29-31, 2019. The theme of the conference was “Innovation on Research, Technology and Applications”. In particular, the conference invited scholars and experts with academic excellence in this field at home and abroad to make excellent keynote presentations. The CEISEE 2020 was organized by Beijing Jiaotong University, in Beijing, China on December 5, 2020. Because of the influence of COVID-19 pandemic, the conference adopted a combination of online and offline approach, and more than 100 representatives from Germany, France, Croatia and other European countries as well as universities, institutions and enterprises all over the country attended the symposium. The conference included 28 papers, and participants had heated discussions and exchanges on the theme “Software Engineering Education in the New Information Technology Background”, online education after the epidemic, industry-university cooperation and collaborative education, development of characteristic demonstration software school, software engineering education practice, international education and cooperation.

THE 17TH CEISEE SYMPOSIUM, in HARBIN, CHINA
The CEISEE 2021 was again organized by Harbin Institute of Technology, in Harbin, China during August 27-28, 2021. The theme was “Software Engineering Education in the Post-Epidemic Internet Era: New Changes, New Technology, New Economy, and New Features”. The conference still adopted a combination of online and offline methods due to the influence of COVID-19. More than 100 representatives from Ireland, France, Croatia and other European countries as well as universities, institutions and enterprises all over the country attended the conference, and over 73,000 people times watched the conference through live streaming platforms. The conference included 33 papers, and participants had heated discussions and exchanges on the requirements and training of high-quality software engineers, the application of modern educational technology in the training of software talents, and the innovation and reform of software engineering education based on MOOC/SPOC.

THE 18TH CEISEE SYMPOSIUM, in ZAGREB, GROATIA
The CEISEE 2022 was organized by Algebra University College, Croatia and co-organized by Harbin Institute of Technology, China during November 25-26, 2022. With the theme of “How the Metaverse is Shaping the Future of Education”, more than 100 representatives from universities in European countries such as Croatia, Ireland, Italy, Germany and more than 30 universities and institutes in China attended on line. The conference included 25 papers, participants on the new methods of software engineering education, software engineering related professional training plans and courses, interdisciplinary education, school-enterprise cooperation, online education and education in the meta-universe era, innovation and entrepreneurship practice, international education cooperation and other issues launched a warm discussion and exchange.

THE 19TH CEISEE SYMPOSIUM, in WUHAN, CHINA
The CEISEE 2023 was organized by Wuhan University, in Wuhan, China during May 25-29, 2023. Experts and scholars from more than 30 universities, research institutes and enterprises from the UK, Ireland, Austria and China participated in the conference through online and offline forms. With the theme of “Software Engineering Education in the Era of AI”, the conference organized and arranged 4 keynote speeches and 6 parallel sessions, which also received wide attention online.
